Meep Media Downloader is a program that will allow you to download streaming media to your hard disk and convert it into well-known formats. The program will place a toolbar in Firefox and Internet Explorer that will include an input field for the Jixey search engine. It comes with two buttons – one to download videos, and another one devoted to downloading only music.
By using the "Save Video" button, you will be able to download and save directly to your disk videos that you can then play and enjoy in your browser (mostly videos in the FLV format). You can also convert them into AVI, a format more compatible with all the most-used players. The "Save MP3" button will let you download streaming music, saving the files in the MP3 format. There is an option in the program to import your downloads directly into iTunes. In addition, after downloading the file, you will have the possibility of playing it back using your default player. You can also send a link to your friends – via e-mail - to any of the streaming files you have found.
Meep also offers you Meepcaster, a box that contains links to the most popular music and video clips, and that you can expand with your favorite links.
The basic version of this program is free, but lacks some features, like downloading more than one file at a time or getting higher quality videos. Meep offers you a Pro version with no limitations.
